At our weight loss surgery practice in South Florida patients are frequently asking for snack and nutrition ideas. Blood sugar and protein are two areas of interest when it comes to power snacks in South Florida. These areas are of particular interest to Weight Loss Surgery patients.
Instead of reaching for a granola bar, you should make your own under-200-calorie snack combinations that offer both fiber (to help stabilize blood sugar.) Here are three to try:
- Pear and Blue cheese
- ½ slice pear + 1 ounce blue cheese (155 calories)
- Roasted edamame with dried cherries
- ¼ cup roasted edamame + 1 Tbsp. dried cherries (160 calories)
- Avocado Toast
- Whole grain toast with two tablespoons of avocado; salt/pepper/lemon juice to taste
